On November 6th, 2013 at approximately 3:00am, sheriff’s deputies on patrol in the Sugar Hill RV Park in Convent, LA, reported multiple gunshots being fired.  Additional officers were immediately called to the scene to render assistance to the reporting deputies.  Officers discovered that an adult white female had been shot in the leg while sleeping in her RV.  Through their initial investigation, deputies discovered that the female had been shot by a stray bullet which had been fired by suspects believed to be committing burglaries in the RV Park.  The suspects fired the shots at a resident who had observed them near an adjacent RV trailer.  One of the bullets fired pierced a trailer and struck the sleeping female.  Acadian Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to render first aid.  The female received medical attention for nonlife threatening injuries, and was transported by a relative to a local hospital and released.  Two juvenile suspects and one adult suspect have been arrested by the sheriff’s office in connection with the shooting.  The adult subject is Lydelle Martin, Jr (B/M, DOB 5/7/1995, 8155 Leggett Street, Sorrento, LA).  Currently Lydelle Martin is charged with LA R.S. 14:95.1 Possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies and LA R.S. 14:108 Resisting and officer.  Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.  All subjects currently remain in custody awaiting bond.
