Information Technology

The Information Technology staff is responsible for maintaining our vast array of computers and telecommunications equipment, including the desktop computers, laptop computers, in-car computers & video, servers, crime camera network and software that make up the SJPSO Computer network. This includes approximately over 150 workstations and 60 servers. They are constantly evaluating the latest in cutting-edge technology for implementation at the agency. More commonly known as “I.T.,” the staff monitors all connectivity between agency offices to assure continued access to all SJPSO services.

The I.T. staff administers to the the CentralSquare Technologies software which includes Computer-Aided Dispatch, Records Management, Jail Management, Civil Process Tracking, Agency Administration, Reporting, and much more. All law enforcement agencies in St James Parish, including Gramercy Police and Lutcher Police, all use the same system. This makes St James Parish one of the few areas of the country to have all area law enforcement using a single system to share information, which has proven to be a valuable tool when investigating many different types of crimes.

Information Technology responsibilities include:

• Applications systems analysis, design, programming and maintenance

• Operational support including computer operations, system software support, and database administration.

• Procurement, installation, and hardware, software, and network support for department issued computers, laptops and radios

• End user support encompassing consulting, planning, training and education
