The Criminal Investigation Division is the criminal inquiring section of the department. They provide both analysis and research of crimes in the community through the use of the latest crime-solving techniques and examination.
The Criminal Investigation Division (C.I.D.) is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations regarding calls for service from the public.
The C.I.D. is comprised of three subdivisions:
- General Investigations – responsible for investigating crimes involving adult offenders and victims.
- Juvenile Investigations – responsible for investigating crimes involving juvenile victims or offenders and crimes involving status offenders such as underage drinking, truancy, curfew, etc.
- Narcotics Investigations – responsible for investigating crimes involving the trafficking of illegal and illicit drugs and narcotics.
The C.I.D. is comprised of ten detectives who are assigned to different subdivisions, but periodically work together when additional personnel are needed on larger cases.
Additionally, the Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for the processing and storage of all evidence collected by all sheriffs’ office personnel.
