On February 11th, 2019 at approximately 10:21 pm, the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting shots being fired in the Brooks Apartments located in Lutcher, LA. Responding deputies discovered an individual lying outside near parked vehicles. The individual had sustained numerous gunshot wounds. Acadian Ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the victim to St. James Parish Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim was identified as being Destin Smith (DOB 05/21/1996, Black/Male, from Gramercy, LA). Detectives are working to develop both suspect(s) and a motive for the shooting.
