On Thursday December 8, 2016 at approximately 4:32pm, the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had taken place at 10475 Carrolton Circle in St. James, LA. Officers arrived on scene and discovered two individuals inside the residence of 10475 Carrolton Circle that had gunshot wounds. Acadian Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to render medical attention. One individual at the scene, Diamond Philip (Age 18, St. James, LA) died at the scene. The second individual, Ramon Butler (Age 22, Donaldsonville, LA) was transported by Air Med to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA and is currently in critical condition. The initial investigation of the incident resulted in detectives determining Diamond Philip was shot multiple times by Ramon Butler. After shooting Ms. Philip, Butler shot himself in the head. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
