Three Arrested in St James / DEA Investigation

On Saturday May 12th, 2012, the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration executed several arrest warrants and search warrants regarding a drug investigation that began several months back.  The investigation was conducted as a joint operation between the D.E.A. and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office.  Special Agents with the D.E.A. and narcotics officers with the sheriff’s office, united to form a task force to target mid to high level drug dealers in St. James Parish. 

The operation netted multiple targets and assets, which have been seized.  Arrested and charged with the distribution of illegal narcotics and controlled dangerous substances are: Tonta Jabbar Octave (DOB 6/23/1978, 6126 Waterford Lane, Sorrento, LA); Kavis Octave (DOB 10/18/1981, 3202 Domino Street, Vacherie, LA); and Quinton James Dumas (DOB 11/7/1976, 1365 Harco Drive, Baton Rouge, LA).  Although only three subjects were arrested, the individuals taken into custody are responsible for trafficking substantial amounts of illegal narcotics.  

The D.E.A. and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office received assistance in the execution of the warrants from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Baton Rouge Police Department.  In a coordinated effort, warrants were executed at approximately the same time in St. James, Ascension, and East Baton Rouge Parish.  All subjects arrested were remanded into federal custody.  The D.E.A. and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office advised more arrest will be forthcoming as a result of the investigation.
